What we are aiming for
We want anyone to be able to read this site, fill in the form, and reach us, using a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, magnification, or a phone held in one hand.
We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not claiming to have fully met that standard. Saying so before it has been independently tested would be its own kind of inaccessibility: a promise you cannot rely on. This page says what we have actually done and what we know is still outstanding.
What we have done
- A "skip to content" link on every page, so keyboard users can bypass the header.
- Buttons, links and form controls sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels, with space between them.
- Body text at 15 pixels or larger on phones, form fields at 16 pixels so they do not force a zoom, and pinch-zoom left enabled everywhere.
- Every form field has a visible label that is properly connected to it, with error messages announced to screen readers.
- Animation, including the scrolling industry and partner strips, is reduced or switched off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion, and the strips pause on hover and keyboard focus.
- Visible focus outlines that we have not removed.
- The site is tested at nine screen widths from 320 pixels upward, and does not scroll sideways at any of them.
- Images carry written alternative text, and decorative visuals are hidden from screen readers.
- The service popups on our plan cards can be opened, read, and closed entirely from the keyboard, with focus returned to where you were.
What we know is not right yet
- The site needs JavaScript. With it switched off or blocked, most pages will not display their content. This page and our privacy policy are the exceptions. We know this is a significant limitation and it is on our list.
- We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit or testing with real assistive-technology users.
- Some colour combinations on photographic backgrounds have not been individually contrast-checked.
